There are many variations of do-it-yourself natural lip moisturizers! Lips dry out because of weather and because we often lick our lips and as the saliva dries, it takes moisture out of the lips. It is best to keep some kind of moisturizer on the lips when outside, especially in hot sunny weather or particularly cold weather.
It is usual to put beeswax in a lip balm because it is very moisturizing and give protection against the sun’s UV rays.
Here is one recipe for lip moisturizer using beeswax.
Use one teaspoon beeswax
2 teaspoons coconut oil
3 drops Vitamin E oil
1/2 teaspoon honey
lipstick or blush for color, if desired (The amount of this depends on how much color you want.)
Combine all the ingredients and put in microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 10-second increments until the beeswax melts. Remove from the microwave and mix well. Pour it into a clean container. You can put in the refrigerator to cool it faster.
If you don’t have beeswax readily available, you can use this recipe.
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon Vaseline
Your favorite essence such as lavender, strawberry, etc.
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or any extract you like)
Mix honey and Vaseline. Microwave for a few seconds to melt them. Add the essence and extract. Mix it until it is blended and put in a clean container. Keep it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
As stated earlier, there are many variations of these recipes, and other recipes, too. Just experiment until you find the best combination for your taste.
